She came to one of my workshops carrying ferns from New Zealand.

She had lived there before moving to the Netherlands, and these ferns—ancient, extraordinary plants—had made the journey with her. At the workshop, she wanted to capture that chapter of her life and those cherished memories in a botanical print.

Afterwards, because I was so fascinated by them, she gifted me a bundle. How generous and kind. I was completely captivated.

Ferns are among the oldest plants on Earth. They existed before flowers, before birds, before almost everything we recognise in nature today. There's something quietly humbling about holding one.

I had the best time printing them. The result is a small collection of fern studies—each one carrying a story and a journey that wasn't my own.

Wild strawberries always remind me of my grandmother, but also of the place where I found and captured this wild strawberry print a few years ago.

Last year, while teaching workshops at a historic botanical garden in Belgium, I was given a bundle of wild strawberry plants with their roots still attached so participants could print with them. I brought the remaining plants home and tucked them into my garden.

Just look at how they’ve grown.

Leucojum aestivum — the summer snowflake. Despite the name, it blooms in early spring, quietly and a little later than the rest. I nearly closed the collection without it.

But I'd waited all season for the full arc. And the full arc meant waiting for this one too.

It was worth it. There's something about its shape — those small bells, perfectly formed — that feels like a quiet full stop at the end of a sentence.

An acquaintance from Switzerland @deerandsparrow walked part of the Camino de Santiago a month ago. Listening to her stories felt so inspiring, empowering, and adventurous that I found myself dreaming of walking across the Netherlands for the month of May — to heal, let go of what I had been carrying for so long, and recharge.

I never quite managed the walking part.

Instead, I made a different commitment: to consciously bring more joy and lightness into my life throughout May. I followed what naturally called to me. The beautiful weather. Fifty shades of green. The soft light after sunset. The changing colours of the sky. Flowers blooming everywhere. Kind souls crossing my path through my work.
And somehow, it all worked.

I feel like I am coming back to myself. A little more healed. Almost fully recharged. Ready to breathe deeply again.

A few moments from May:

1 -6 Beautiful Madrid — a spontaneous weekend away with my other half, while also catching up with dear friends. It seems I’ve collected more friends around the globe than in the place I currently call home.

3- More belly laughs, please.

7 - 10 Discovering the lesser-known architectural and cultural treasures of Utrecht with a voice-guided walking tour @myvoicemap @millmade.eu

11 - 12- About as close as you’ll ever see me get to horse riding. & Horse petting with my darling daughter.

I quit floristry to give flowers a different kind of life.

Not in a vase. Not in a bouquet. But printed on paper — captured at the exact moment they are most themselves.

I'm Zizi. Former florist, now botanical printmaker. I work with fresh flowers and leaves gathered from nature, print them by hand, and give them a lasting life one by one. No two prints are ever the same. That's the whole point.

After years of building this quietly — from Switzerland, to the Netherlands — I now have a studio right in the heart of Utrecht, steps away from the Museum Catharijneconvent.

At the table, you’ll find an abundant selection of seasonal blooms and foliage — and you’re free to wander into the garden to pick what calls you.

From there, you’ll create in two ways:

With me — working on paper or fabric, turning flowers into delicate botanical prints.

With @loefke_tuin_en_keramiek — shaping clay and capturing the imprint of nature in ceramic pieces.

Aan tafel ligt een rijke selectie seizoensbloemen en bladeren — en je bent vrij om ook de tuin in te gaan en te plukken wat je aanspreekt.

Van daaruit ga je op twee manieren aan de slag:

Met mij — op papier of stof, waarbij je bloemen vertaalt naar verfijnde botanische prints.

Met @loefke_tuin_en_keramiek — in klei, waar je de vormen en structuren van de natuur vastlegt in keramiek.

Twee sessies.

Eindeloze mogelijkheden.

Geen druk om iets perfects te maken.
Alleen ruimte om te ontdekken, te voelen en iets te creëren dat echt van jou is.
